amanda and i put everyone's name in a basket that entered my 100th post giveaway yesterday. she drew a name this morning before she went to school. and the winner is.....Beth from outnumbered three to one. i love beth. she is so sweet and is a wonderful friend to me. stop by and visit her if you get the chance. she is a blessing to know.

i wanted to join sandy @ one day at a time in her meme, "tell me about it thursday," even though it is already friday. each week she gives us some idea of something to post about, usually about our family or our childhood.

this week's theme is "share something (anything) about your family"

i want to take this opportunity to tell a little bit about my husband, aaron's family. aaron comes from a pretty big family. he is the youngest of six children. this last weekend, we all got together at his brother's house to celebrate his mom's 79th birthday. her name is mary. isn't she beautiful?!

this is the lady that is the mother of my sweet and wonderful husband. i know it wasn't easy raising six children without losing her mind. God's hand was upon their family in so many ways. aaron tells me so many stories of times when the enemy could have destroyed his family but God had different plans for all of them. with aaron being the baby of the family, mary tells the story of finding out that she was pregnant with him. she was none too happy. she had her hands full with the five kids that she had at the time. but, none the less, aaron was on his way into this world. her neighbor comforted her with excitement for her new little one coming into the world. that seemed to help. it is always nice when people are excited when you tell them you are going to have a baby, no matter how many members of the family you are bringing into the world. i believe that mary decided it was ok that she had aaron because he has been her "little baby" from the beginning, and still is. she must have done something right because she raised a wonderful, sweet man who has become a great husband and loving daddy. thank you mary! thank you God!

happy birthday to you! i pray you have many more to share with us!

Christy,

About 10 years ago, when our church first started hosting FBI my husband and I took about 4 semesters that was 2 years. Then we had two babies 15 months apart and one was extremely ill for about 6 months. Needless to say, we had to put everything on the back burner. With God’s grace our son was healed but by then we had our 6th baby on the way. We started back last January, so we are in our 6th semester or third year. We won’t be graduating because we are in some repeat semesters. But we are not in it for graduating. We will take it at long as we have opportunity to do so. Each time I sit through a class I learn something new that I missed before. And it is so fascinating that hearing it again is just like hearing it for the first time. It was particularly interesting when he was teaching on Revelation and end times last fall when Georgia was invaded and how all of that and our new president and such fit in to the end times prediction. It makes your hair stand on end to see how God is fulfilling those prophecies. I don’t know if I said, but I will tell you in case I didn’t that you don’t need to take the classes in order. Each can stand on their own. We started in the Divided Kingdom the first time around because that is where he was when our church picked it up. This last semester we started in creation. The apologetics of defending creation vs. evolution are worth the whole class in itself!

Ok. Enough about that. But let me know how it works out for you. If there is a class taught in your area you are permitted to sit in on one class to see what it is like. If you have any questions I would really encourage you to do that. What I didn’t say on my blog, because my family reads it and offending them would not be in the interest of winning them to the Lord, is that my parents and sister are both lost and yet they sat in on one class and loved them. I see the Lord winning my parents bit by bit each class session.

Blessings,

Kat

Christy, loved hearing your story.
And I also wanted to thank you for always encouraging me when I seem to be at my lowest. I'm better today and got through a whole day at school without incident. But reading your words means the world to me.
Thank you my friend.

Mary reminds me of my own 80 year old Grandma Mary. Both Marys are beautiful and don't look their age.

Thank you so much for the blog award. You are so sweet to include me. I'm so glad God led us to each other in Blogland.

Goodness, Mary looks half her age, and you do a great job of describing her as a pretty terrific mother and person. I imagine she feels blessed to have you as a daughter-in-law.

You have done well to honor your husband's mother on her birthday. I always feel a bit of awe when talking about my own husband's mom. Just to think about the woman who raised and nurtured the little boy who would grow up to be the number one man in my life...it just fills my heart with awe -- and so I sure can relate to how you feel about Mary.

This is such an encouraging post.
It makes me think of my important role in raising my two sons. They have been given to me for an important reason -- that I may prepare them to be good husbands later on.

Dear Christy Rose,

It is a wonderful blessing to have such a good husband...I am happy for you! And, of course, that says a lot about his mother!

It is sad the way the world tries to make us feel that we have TOO many children. Each child is a blessing from God, and could not be here if God had not chosen to give them to us. He can and does close the womb...how sad that would be...yes, EACH child IS a blessing! I wish I had more, and when I think of the possibility, slim though it may be, it makes me excited thinking about how wonderful babies are.
