summer is here

summer is here. this is the first full week out of school for the summer. it is going to go so fast. i can see it now. this weekend we will be going to a conference in tulsa, oklahoma. after the conference, my young girls are staying there for 2 1/2 weeks with my sister and i am bringing her oldest daughter home with me. the next two weekends we will be gone to baseball tounaments with Josiah. my sister is coming to visit for two 1/2 weeks after that, bringing my girls home with her. They are all going to church camp the next week. by then july will be over and school will start two weeks after that. it seems like a blurr already.

this week i am going to try to spend some quality time with my kids individually. i do not want to just slide into all of our events for the summer and miss relationship time with them. so, my prayer is that God will direct our activities as to build our lives together with Him in the very center of all that we do. help me Lord to depend on you to make the best of this time that i have with them because i know that i will never get it back again. i want them to feel loved and special as if they were my very life after You. because of course they are. i am looking to you to help me be the best mommy that i can be. in doing that i know we will have the best summer ever and memories to last a lifetime.

Just this morning, that's what I was telling my son, how fast time goes by and that we should always ask the Lord to help us remember to spend each day with love, and that we will not take things for granted.
May your children have a wonderful time and same with you, as your sister come over. May the Lord bless you with all great things while enjoying them together with Him. God bless sister and have a great Monday! Love you in Christ.

Hi Christy,

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my sweet girl Alice. Even though she's had a nice, long life, I'm sorry she never had a boyfriend. I'm sure Dodger would have been the perfect one for her! :)

Have a great week and be blessed!

I realize that summer is just 10 short weeks! I want to keep that in mind to remind me to enjoy it to the fullest and use this precious wisely.

I hope you have a wonderful time with your children.

I know how difficult it is to find individual time with 5! I wish I could say it happens more that it really does. Hope y'all have a great summer!

Okay, I was thinking my summer was 'boring' but yours is so busy that mine instead sounds RELAXING! Boring may not be so bad afterall. ha ha ha

Hope your summer doesn't go flying by and hope it's a summer to remember forever!

Hi Christy!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading yours, your family sounds amazing and I am greatly encouraged by your faith in Christ, good stuff :) Funny enough I have some friends in Washington illinois who go to a church that was just recently planted by the church I used to attend in peoria (Bethany Baptist) Where do you attend??

You do have a busy summer ahead of you...but it sounds wonderful too. I think the idea of spending one on one time with each child is perfect. They will remember those times forever.

Summer days, summer days! I feel the same way you do about wanting to spend that quality time with each of my kids individually! And I read your post below this one and just loved it. What a beautiful picture of the grace and mercy of our Jesus--that we can approach his throne in confidence!

This is such a good point. I know my family tries to cram so much into the summer that it seems like it's over before it's begun. This year, I think we'll slow things down a bit and enjoy.

Always good to meet another baseball family! We have been for 19 years. That includes quite a few years with softball, too. I've moved from coaching to umping, which I just wrote about this morning.

Summer can be very busy and hectic. We've looked at summer sports as part of our time together, and it is wonderful. But, it can not take the place of some quiet nights at home with just the family, a short get-away somewhere even if you can't take a long vacation, and time to slow down a bit and enjoy each other. We try for that, too. Enjoy those kids this summer!

Love that God comforted you with such loving truth when you needed it most.

He does watch over our kids when we cannot. I've found freedom from paralyzing fear as I've surrendered them to His perfect love and care.

Hugs,
