a new breed of "man"

"By abolishing in His own crucified flesh the enmity caused by the Law with its decrees and ordinances, which He annulled, that He from the two might create in Himself one new man, one new quality of humanity out of the two, so making peace." (Ephesians 2:15)

just some things that i have been pondering and meditating on today

1. the Law causes enmity.
2. Jesus annulled the Law.
3. through faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, He created a new breed of "man" (one that never
existed before) "the God/man" (man filled with the Spirit of God)
4. there is no longer enmity between the members of this breed of humanity. each member is equal in having
the same miracle unite them as "one" with God.
5. we are equally united with God and with each other. there is not one who has more Holy Spirit in them than
    another. thereby comes peace.

I'd swear that you were the wife of a pastor!

I see this expressed every day in those who truly know Christ. There is understanding, there is love. Though I am not perfect, I like to count myself in that group!

Now there are others that I know - who are active in my "former religion" - who carry out the practice of religion but seem to still carry much angst in their souls. They are pretty and whitewashed on the outside, but like dead bones and unclean on the inside.

So short and so simple, yet I keep going back and reading it over and over. Anytime we feel we aren't as "close to" God, that is our own perception and not the truth. Thanks for giving me something to ponder tonight!

#5 was interesting. I agree that we all have the full measure of the Holy SPirit but not all yield equally to His urgings or allow parts of their will to be molded...that is why it seems some have more or less of the Spirit. I think that the way I would say it is that everyone who is born again has access to the same measure...but all do not avail themselves of the potential.

Concur, absolutely!

I look at some of the women I admire and I just feel that they have more of the Holy Spirit in them than I do. The peace and calm and understanding. The love they show. I dunno.

I lack peace, fo sho.

Yes, yes, :) there is not one who has more Holy Spirit in them than

We ALL have the ability to hear from and be lead by God. It saddens me how our culture has taught that only some who are more "spiritual" then others have this ability...Not true.

Great thoughts, Christy!

Have to respond again, considering the last two comments, especially Daveda's. There seems to be almost a conspiracy of being "afraid" of letting the Holy Spirit rule -- and then noting that people who "let go and let God" are more spiritual. You are so right, Daveda. God created us equal in love and worth. He is accessible to all of us. While He gave us differing gifts, He needs us to use those differing gifts for differing purposes, but His gift of the Holy Spirit is not one of those differing gifts. It is His gift to every single person alike.

Hi Christy Rose,

It is good for us to think on these things but I hope you don't mind but I do have to take expection to #2 Jesus annulled the Law. For if that were true then why did Jesus say:

"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill" (Matthew 5:17).

"Perhaps the most widespread controversies about the teachings of Jesus concern His attitude toward the laws of God recorded in the Old Testament.

The approach of most churches and denominations regarding Jesus is that He brought a new teaching differing considerably from the instructions of the Old Testament.

The common view is that the teachings of Christ in the New Testament annulled and replaced the teachings of the Old Testament. But do they?

It doesn't ultimately matter what people say about Him. Nor does it really matter what interpretations they give of what He said. What truly matters is what He really said, and whether we're going to believe and accept what He said.

Clear statement in the Sermon on the Mount. Since this is the longest recorded statement of Jesus Christ's teachings, we should expect to find in it His view toward the laws of God as recorded in the Old Testament. And indeed we do.

One of the reasons for some of Jesus' statements in the Sermon on the Mount is that—because His teaching was so different from that of the Pharisees and Sadducees—some people believed His intention was to subvert the authority of God's Word and substitute His own in its place."
