how can something so famous be so hard to find?

you see this package of cookies that they call famous chocolate wafers? well, they must not be that famous because no body knows about them or where i can find them. you see, we have a little tradition in our home when it comes to birthdays around here.  i usually let each person pick out what kind of cake or dessert that they would like to have for their birthday and almost always cookie cake is chosen. now that is wonderful and all because we all love it so much! it is such a simple recipe. all you do is whip up a quart of whipping cream with a half a cup of sugar until it is the consistency of whipped topping. then, you layer these delicious wafers in the bottom of a 9x13 cake pan with the whipped cream, rotating back and forth with each thing until you have finally reached the top of the pan. then you refrigerate it for at least 8 hours.  it is simple and easy and it tastes out of this world. of course it would, it has about 1000 calories per slice in it. but, i can not seem to find anyone who consistently carries these cookies around here and i am down to my last package. last year, i found some at big lots. so, i bought every package that they had and put them in the freezer. but today is my baby girl, amanda's, birthday and i only have one package of cookies to make her cake today. so, her cake is a little smaller than usual. but she will get as much as she wants first before anyone else gets to dive into it. so if any of you have ever heard of these little famous chocolate wafers and may know where they are hiding out. i would love to stock up on them for the next five years.
happy birthday to my baby girl!!!
i can't believe that you are eleven today! but, i love you and i promise that i will find more famous chocolate wafers before your next birthday! how can something so famous be so hard to find?

They have them at my grocery store in town, but they are expensive!!! They are hard to find in the store and I have to look for them as I can't remember where they are!

My mom used to make a desert with these cookies and whipped cream years ago.. It was a yule log type desert.

I found them on Amazon for you:

Happy Birthday to Amanda!!

Christy, hold onto this website. You may need it next year. It's a great place to find hard to find products. Unfortunately companies either discontinue or put limited production on products that are not popular or that no longer selling well, to make room for "new and improved" products. Fortunately this company warehouses those items that have not been discontinued, but have gotten hard to find. http://www.hometownfavorites.com/Nabisco-Famous-Chocolate-Wafers-9-oz/productinfo/HFDE342/

They must not be too famous like you said. I have never seen nor heard of them but after hearing the recipe, maybe I'd better start looking for them too.

Happy Birthday to your little sweetie.

So sorry I haven't been over in a while. I haven't been very good about getting around "the neighborhood" these days. I just wanted to pop over and say hello.

Happy, Happy Birthday to your sweet pretty Amanda.

About those cookies I asked my husband if his store carried them and he said yes. I am going to email you and see if perchance you are near one of the store chains. Just don't want to give out to much info about where he works in the comment section.

Hello Christy Rose,

Our Birthday person always chooses their birthday cake, too, and then the next morning they get to eat their birthday cake for breakfast, and what ever is left after they have their piece is divided amongst all who want some cake for breakfast.

Thanks for stopping by to say "Hello!"
♥Hope

Have you tried googling them. I did that with some candy I couldn't find anymore and found out about a store in my area that sells them. It's the only one. You might also be able to order them online, sometimes those rare gems can only be found online.
