a pretty flock of valentines

this was amanda's last year to hand out valentines at school. usually, i just go to the store and let her pick out some box of already to go, sign your name on the back, valentines. but, this year i thought we would make some cute crafty ones. she needed 24 valentines for her class. so it took us awhile and we were ready to be done by the end, but we had fun making these cute butterfly valentines.

first we cut out 48 hearts for the wings of the butterflies
then we taped two pieces of gum together with two pieces of licorice in the middle for antennas.

then we attached the wings to the gum body with a heart sticker

very cute! the valentine and the girl!

the finished product

what a pretty flock of valentines!

  1. Happy Valentine's Day!! Very cute valentine's. We used to make and send a lot of valentines, but now we just give friends some candy and mail cards to our family & friends.

    I love Valentine's Day!

    Have fun, Nannette

Happy "love" day to you sister and may you have the best Valentine's with your DH and the rest of your family as well. Stay warm in the Lord's love. Blessings and love.

It's so wonderful that you're there to celebrate them right alongside your kids; time flies, and you can't get those days, weeks, months, and years back! Great job, y'all!

  7. They are darling!!! What a way to go out with a bang! She will remember these ALWAYS!! I was sharing with MIMI that this was my first year NOT to have to do Valentines cards for the class or attend a Valentine party at the school! It was soooo sad *sniff sniff* Hate that my kids are growing up and it is all way toooo fast!

    Happy Valentines Day my friend

  24. Christie,

These are adorable and so much better than the store bought kind anyway! I only wish I had read this earlier but I can save the idea for next year.

You know my youngest daughter's class was the only one in the whole school that didn't have a Valentine's day party? What's up with that?

Please make sure to stop by my blog today to enter a great giveaway.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  26. I can certainly see how that would take a while but I bet the kids liked getting a 'different' Valentine along with the gum!!!!

  28. Those are TOO cute and so is Amanda! Isn't it sad when they start experiencing their 'lasts' as kids? My middle daughter is graduating from high school this year and I'm really not liking these 'lasts'. (i.e. last football game, last marching competition, last Christmas concert, last prom, etc.) I know it is all a part of growing up but I'm not ready for another one of my chickies to leave the nest just yet. :*( Time just flies too darn fast, ya know?

Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by again and again. I always love to see your name pop up. It brings a smile to my face.

I hope you have a fabulous week!

    Teresa <><

This is such a lovely post with all the pictures. I am sure that Amanda loved every minute of it with you by her side doing the giveaways with her. Such a bright idea!

It is a memory that she'll never forget.

    Love
