1st snow day of 2010

it snowed about 8 inches last night. so, guess what?  no school !! i had some very excited kids this morning, from the biggest to the smallest. daddy stayed home too and took an opportunity to get out in the snow with the kids and took them sledding. it was so cold today though. it only got into the teens with a wind chill of about zero degrees. but, that could not stop them. they bundled up and headed out for some fun in the snow.

             "mommy, i can't move!"

the snow was still falling when they went out.

"come on, let's go"

"it's good! wanna bite?"

"these are some yummy snow cones!"

"put that camera down and come play with me!"

"come on bubba, let's go"

      "geronimo!!!"

"oh no! oh no! oh no!"

poor jacob! he was just getting pummeled with snow in his face the whole way

                                                                                            "whew! we made it"

everyone wanted to go again, except jacob, because of course, he did not like his face full of snow!

when they were done sledding, rachel had the brilliant idea of burying josiah in the snow. why he agreed, i'll never know. but i think they all had a blast on the 1st snow day of 2010!

  8. I was about to get off line when I saw your post. No! I gotta' come here and see the great pictures. You always capture all these fun times, sweet memories! Can't miss them!

Teenagers are "warm blooded" creatures. So, I guess they can be buried in the snow :) Being "80" now, I wish I did that! Put me now in the snow, my bones will surely break!

Ahh...poor Jacob! But he is a cute angel against all these beautiful white background! Stay safe and warm sister! God bless you all!

  9. It does look like fun but freezing fun. Much better than shoveling. I will take sledding over that anyday. So glad they all enjoyed a snow day. We wanted one today but no such luck.

  16. Christie,

Oh what fun all this looks like. Wishing I was there playing with all of you. I can honestly say, I've never seen anyone buried with snow, sand maybe but never snow. Great idea!

  18. YAY! We had a snow day here, too! Well....actually we only got about a half an inch, just barely a dusting. :0( I was REALLY disappointed because I wanted to see everything beautifully covered in white, but it just wasn't meant to be. However, it was still enough to make everything extremely icy and that ALWAYS makes for very dangerous driving down here in the south! All our schools are closed so we are still happy campers. :0) I wish we could get the kind of snow you have today. It has been a long, long time since we've seen that much snow. One day, I hope to move a little farther north to the mountains so we can see it a few times every year!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet comment. I also appreciate your continued prayers. You are such a great source of encouragement for me and I truly cherish having you as my new friend.

    Have fun in your snow!

  23. We got about three inches of snow, but it's waaaay too cold for me to even think about going out! I could blame it on being sick (I'm feeling some better), but it's probably my old age! ;-)

  24. Looks like you were prepared for the snow and had fun... we had 2 feet several weeks ago and it was not as much fun it was actually to much snow!

  33. Loved the photos. We've had some snow too... not near as much as you guys, yet ours has the icy component to it so we are stuck...

Hope you all had tons of fun!

  34. Oh my! You commented on my snow post, and I came over here to say "thanks". And now I am shamefully embarrassed that you had to see what constitutes a snow day in Georgia! EIGHT inches? That's about the height of any snowman my boy has EVER been able to make out of Georgia snow! Those pictures are so fun; I can't wait to show my little guy what a ReaL snow day looks like!

  35. I think it is just so awesome that your teens will get out there and play in the snow all together. Looks like they had an awesome time! I'm jealous, we haven't had snow for a month. Send some our way!

  36. Oh how fun! Looks like everybody had a great time. My son would love it if we got that much snow. But after a week of artic like temps, I'm not so sure. I'm thinking I kind of like the weather we usually have.

  37. You have a gorgeous family, do you know that? LOVE just oozes out of the picture and into my heart.

You are truly blessed my friend!

  38. Looks like such fun! And such wonderfully exposed shots! Snow is tricky, requiring an exposure compensation adjustment. As for me and snow...I tend to curl up inside where it's warm, but what fun I am missing!
