a little bit of Christmas

one of the things that our church and our family participated in this Christmas season was a community event called "a little bit of Christmas" for the families in our area. the business association sets up a banquet facility with many things for the kids to enjoy to start the season together. since our church is so new to our community, we thought it was a great way to reach out and love on the families that resided here. we recently had many brand new books donated to us to bless children any way that we felt the Lord would lead us to. we thought this was a great opportunity to bless the kids here in our community with a gift from our church family as we displayed the love of God toward them. many of us met early in the afternoon to wrap them in Christmas paper. by the end, olivia and amanda had pretty much mastered the wrapping part. we wrapped a lot of books.

there were many things that awaited the families at the banquet facility. our church provided the coffee and cookies. we also set up a craft table for the kids to make a candy cane reindeer to take home and then gave each of them a wrapped children's book as our gift to them. all of the children in the community seemed to have a wonderful time, even our own. jacob enjoyed the cookies very much!

along with daddy and amanda who were sporting their cheesy smiles

then he enjoyed some time with his grandma at her table

toward the end of the night, they all made their way to the horse and carriage ride outside.

they were all bundled up because it was so extremely cold outside. i think they all had fun though!

it was a wonderful way to start the season with the community. i pray that everyone that we reached out and talked to felt loved and blessed as we all celebrated just "a little bit of Christmas" together.

  3. It's these simple, yet generous gestures of Christmas that are, by far, the best!

I must chuckle ... I love it when children are posed and give you a cheesy grin. So fun, and funny!

    Beautiful family ...

  9. Wow, isn't that exactly what Christmas is all about? It's hard sometimes to shop for my family, who has everything, when there are so many who have nothing.

Have a blessed Christmas, my dear, sweet friend!

  19. What a great idea!!! I will have to suggest something like that for our church to do next year. This year, we've adopted a family and we spent Friday night wrapping all the gifts for them and it was fun! I love books and I would love to start some kind of charity for kids that has to do with books. I don't know what....it's just one of my million ideas floating around in my head. LOL! I love all the pictures....your family looks like so much fun!
